MACHAVERN FINISHES SECOND AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI

Dillon Machavern made his Trans Am Series TA2 debut last month at Sebring International Raceway; despite a disappointing finish due to mechanical difficulties, the team regrouped and focused on building some momentum at Homestead-Miami International Speedway.

Round 2 of the 2015 Trans-Am Championship was the first this year that the TA2 class had a separate, standalone TA2 race. The dedicated event did not disappoint with the iconic Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and Dodge Challenger vying for the podium.

Machavern starting in seventh methodically powered the #24 Heritage Motorsports Ford Mustang through the field. By lap 7 he was in third and moved into second on lap 28. A full course caution would erase the 7-second gap Machavern had over his third place competitor. With seven laps to go, Machavern was focused on finishing and maintaining position. As the checkered flag flew, Machavern secured a second place finish in the Heritage Motorsports / UniFirst / PPG Ford Mustang in the 75-minute race.

On the race, Machavern said, “the team worked hard on the chassis all weekend to give me a competitive car. I want to thank Riggins Engineering for all their efforts during the weekend, Lee Schwartz from FlowTech for the power, Traqgear Racing Innovations for keeping me cool as well as Heritage Motorsports partners UniFirst and PPG. I look forward to building on this result at Road Atlanta in a few weeks.”
