MUEHLNER MOTOSPORTS AMERICA FIELDS EXCELLENT PAIRINGS OF KVAMME & MACHAVERN, BELL & CALVERT-
Altamonte Springs, Fla. May 2, 2014 – Muehlner Motorsports America will be taking on one of the most popular and challenging circuits in the world this weekend as the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship heads to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
In their last event at Sebring International Raceway, the No. 19 entry came home P16 out of 29 GTD cars thanks to the team’s refusal to give in despite dealing with a well-fought battle with brake complications throughout the grueling 12-hour classic
This week Mark Kvamme – who has signed on with Muehlner Motorsports America to race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas and Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans – will be joined by one of the most talented young drivers in the sport, Dillon Machavern. Dillon will also racing in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge on this weekend, further evidence of his commitment to his craft. The duo will be piloting the #19 Porsche 911 GT America in the GTD class of the TUDOR Championship.
“Many thanks to Muehlner Motorsports for a great race at Daytona,” said Kvamme. “The professionalism of the management and energy of the drivers makes for a wonderful team. I am really looking forward to joining the team again for four more races this year!”
Dillon echoes the thoughts of his co-driver. “I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of the Muehlner Motorsports America GTD Porsche.” says Machavern. “This will be a great learning experience for me, not only learning about the 911 which has very different driving characteristics than what I have been used to in the past, but also getting a feel for the TUDOR Championship and the GTD class itself, which is one of the most competitive and closely matched fields in the sport.”
The team’s sister car, the #18, will be driven by the excellent pairing of Matt Bell – an incredibly accomplished professional driver in multiple IMSA series’ – and David Calvert Jones, who competes full time in the IMSA GT3 series.
“Thanks to P1 Groupe for bringing this all together.” said Matt. “I’ve been looking to get into the Muhlner Motorsports car for a while now and I’m glad we get to get things started at one of my favorite tracks!”
David Calvert Jones agrees. “I’m excited to see a deal like this come together, especially at the last minute. It’s going to be a really great opportunity and I’m looking forward to putting the Porsche to the test around such a great track!”
The Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix powered by Mazda will take place on May 4th, with the PC and GTD cars taking their start at 1:15pm EST. The race will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 1pm EST

ABOUT MUEHLNER MOTORSPORTS AMERICA Mühlner Motorsport has become a significant global player in the world of professional motorsports since their early days in 1978 when Bernhard Mühlner and his brother Hartmut built their first competition Volkswagen Golf GT1 Rally race car. Originally founded in Germany the team moved its headquarters in 1998 to Spa-Francorchamps, home of the famous F1 Grand Prix track nestled in the heart of the Belgium Ardennes forest. From this base of operations the team prospered and expanded their activities worldwide, finding success racing in Europe, Asia and the Middle-East.
Mühlner Motorsport has become a close-knit, family operated and highly professional race organization, under the direction of the husband and wife team of Bernhard and Renate-Carola assisted by their son Martin and daughter Michelle.
To date the team has earned about 250 podium finishes, more than 100 victories and eight Championships and Mühlner Motorsport is now recognized as one of the world’s most successful race teams in existence. The hunger for even broader success led in 2010 to the establishment of a new division, Muehlner Motorsports America, LLC, with headquarters in DeLand, Florida close to the iconic Daytona International Speedway.
