Machavern and Murcott Roar Mightily for Mitchum at Daytona Test

Altamonte Springs, FL Mitchum Motorsports went into the Roar Before the 24 test event at Daytona International Speedway with the aim of gaining valuable track time and information to make sure they are ready to go for the upcoming 2014 racing season, as well as giving their drivers further chance to familiarize themselves with both their cars as well as their teammates. On tap to do the lion's share of the testing for the team's BMW 128i race cars competing in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge ST class were drivers Dillon Machavern and Dylan Murcott, who used the first day primarily to get acclimated to both the car and the track, while also working through setup goals and objectives in the #11 BMW on day two. Impressively, both drivers were able to show Top-5 speed without having to use new tires in long run trim. Also joining the team was Pete McIntosh, who spent Saturday and Sunday driving the #10, getting familiar with the BMW 128 at Daytona. Chris Mitchum certainly seemed to be pleased with the overall outcome. "Both the drivers and mechanics have gelled very well and with no off course or mechanical issues to derail the test plan we made progress on the already good baseline setup. I was thrilled to see both Dillon Machavern and Dylan Murcott so close to each other in lap times and have such a high comfort level in the car. The brand new #10 car worked through a number of teething issues on the first two days; we would have liked to have run it much more but ultimately we tried something new in the engine that didn't work out so we had to park it for the third day. It was also great to have Pete with us, and it's wonderful to see that his comfort level and confidence in the car are very high after the 'Roar’ test!" Driver Dillon Machavern echoed the thoughts: "I had a great time starting the 2014 season off in the Mitchum Motorsports BMW." says the young pilot. "Although we ran into some adversity that cut our weekend a bit shorter in one of the cars than we wanted, we were still able to make some really great progress. Judging by all of the feedback and results from our testing, things are certainly looking promising for the upcoming season. One thing is for sure, we are all very excited to get back to racing!"
