Dillon Machavern, Mitchum Motorsports Finish Successful Sebring Test
Altamonte Springs, FL Coming off a very successful 2013 racing season, where he captured his second consecutive ECR and Tarheel Cup Endurance Series title, as well as taking overall victory at the 13 Hour Charge of the Headlight Brigade at Virginia International Raceway, Dillon Machavern knows that he will have to work that much harder to reach even greater heights in 2014. That’s where maturity and preparation are absolutely vital, and it certainly looks like Dillon is getting off to the right start if he looks to stuff more silverware into his trophy cabinet. Dillon recently completed a successful test at the famous Sebring International Raceway in Florida, where he joined his freshly-signed new team, Mitchum Motorsports for an important test in the #63 BMW 128i that he will be sharing with teammate Dylan Mercott for the 2014 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Both drivers and crew were very pleased with the progress made. “We had a very successful test at Sebring this weekend!” said Chris Mitchum. “We were able to really progress the setup and performance of the car to place we’re pretty happy with so far, as well as give both drivers valuable track time over the two days.” Chris Mitchum seems particularly excited about the potential that lies within the already-excellent chemistry between his drivers. “Dylan Murcott and Dillon Machavern are a perfect match, trading fast laps and running lap times within a tenth of each other. I’m glad the 2014 season has officially started and I am confident we will be competitive out of the box for Daytona and Sebring.” Machavern seemed to agree whole-heartedly: “I'm very happy with the test this past weekend!” said the young driver. “We made some great progress and got to experience all kinds of conditions that I think will give our team a leg up going into a new track for all of the teams. I couldn’t be happier with where things are going into the new season, and extremely excited to be racing in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge!” About Mitchum Motorsports: Founded in 2001, Virginia Beach-based Mitchum Motorsports comes from a variety of professional road racing backgrounds, spanning over 50 years.
