Mitchum Motorsports signs Machavern and Murcott to 2014 ST season.

Virginia Beach, VA - Mitchum Motorsports will continue with a focused IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge campaign for 2014 in the very competitive ST Class. The 2013 season was utilized to build a dedicated ST team and further develop the highly capable BMW 128i platform. This 2014 campaign will be the strongest class effort for Mitchum Motorsports to date. Both drivers are looking to set their mark on the series in their rookie season. Dylan Murcott is already a championship winning racer. Having won the New England ATV 200/300 class motocross championship, and also has an impressive record in SCCA Spec Miata; racking up 12 wins and over 30 podium finishes in 57 races. Dillon Machavern, son of Rolex champion David Machavern, already has a successful, young racing career. Winner of numerous SCCA championships, including: the 2012 & 2013 ECR Endurance Championship and the Tarheel Cup Pro Series, and the 2013 US Majors Eastern Conference GT-1 title as well as 2012 Spec Miata and 2013 ITE and Overall winner in the SCCA 13 hour at VIR event. “I am very excited to be running a full season in ST; doing it in a Mitchum car is the best place I can be. I am thrilled to have a talented co-driver that is every bit as hungry as I am, to push this team to the top step of the podium” says Murcott. “We’ve already had a successful test together, and I can’t wait to attack the rookie title with a veteran team.” Machavern states; “I’m really excited to be making my full-time pro racing debut with Mitchum Motorsports and co-driving with Dylan Murcott. Having had a strong run to a Top-10 finish at Road America with Mitchum in their Street Tuner BMW, only to be followed by an overall win at the 13-hour at Virginia International Raceway in the Aston Martin, I’m confident in the capabilities of the team. I enjoyed the test with Dylan at VIR, and we’re looking forward to a strong season to not just fight for top Rookie honors, but the Championship!” “Our focus is clear for 2014. We’ve signed two very capable, and fast young drivers that have the same goals as our team. The back half of the 2013 season was successful for us, and we are carrying that momentum over to 2014 with stronger drivers, cars, and team.” says Team Principal Chris Mitchum. “We are expecting great things in this season with our two car effort.” The remainder of the driver line-up and sponsors will be formally announced at the Roar Before the 24 Daytona Test Days.
