Machavern Wins at Roebling Road

Altamonte Springs, FL/July 1, 2013 – Dillon Machavern embarked on the long journey to Savannah’s Roebling Road Raceway this past weekend to take part in the SCCA Southeastern Division Double SARRC/ECR Spec Miata weekend. The ‘doubles’ means he’s literally doing two races in each series, for a total of four on the weekend! It’s a tall order for any driver, but Machavern was up to the task knowing his Panic Motorsports team provided him with a great car set-up to compete, as did Ti-Speed Engineering who provided the power.

Dillon would set out to qualify his #24 Mazda Miata for Saturdays’ races, and would be on Pole position for his ECR race, and starting from the third place on the grid for his SARRC event. In the ECR race he would jump out to a lead, which he would hold onto for the whole event, but things got dicey on the final lap when his car ran out of gas on the front straight. Machavern had enough of a lead and coasted to a close win by a mere 0.61 seconds. In his SARRC race he would stay with the lead pack and have several battles throughout the contest and brought his car home in forth position for a strong run on the day.

For Sundays’ races, weather was going to play a factor in the racing, but not in the outcome. In his ECR race, the action would be close until the weather worsened and caused a red-flag stoppage to the action while Dillon was still leading. When the rain lightened and the green flag dropped to resume the race, Machavern was off and running despite the remaining wet conditions. When asked about the wet weather driving Machavern states; “I love racing in the rain, it really helps hone your car control skills.” By the time he took the checkered flag, he had lapped the entire field to win the event in dominating fashion. For his final SARRC race of the weekend, Dillon would start from pole position, his third out of the four events, and bring the #24 Panic Motorsports Miata home in 3rd place for his third podium finish of the weekend.

“We had a great weekend with some tough competition and solid Top-4 finishes throughout.” Excited for the results, and exhausted from all the racing action on the weekend, Machavern continues; “I’d like to thank HeratigeVT.com, Panic Motorsports and Ti-Speed Engineering for making it all happen this weekend!”
